About Seminole Community Volunteer Program Seminole
Community Volunteer Program, Inc. is dedicated to improving the quality of life
in Seminole County. Through innovative partnerships and collaborations, we
provide skilled volunteers who positively impact: Education, Environment, Public
Safety, Health & Human Needs.
During
1997, the Board of Directors of SCVP worked together to complete a 5-Year
Strategic Plan. This plan included becoming a Points of Light Foundation member,
to create our expanded mission and the Seminole Volunteer Center. The
challenges of today demand new and innovative techniques to effectively marshal
resources and provide a "vision of tomorrow." Our traditional role as
provider of volunteers will be enlarged to include being an initiator of
programs that deal with problems facing our communities. Simply put, the
Volunteer Center will mobilize people and resources to deliver creative
solutions to community problems. The board's decision was motivated by
compassion and the confidence that together people can work wonders. The
Volunteer Center will blend ideas and expertise from all segments of Seminole
County to come up with realistic and creative volunteer approaches to serious
problems. A
strategic plan would not be complete without a vision. With that in mind, the
Board of Directors of SCVP, Inc. committed themselves to the following: "We
envision that community service is promoted and valued by all Seminole County
residents, regardless of age, race or gender as a civic responsibility; an
opportunity to improve community conditions by helping others to help
themselves; and, to prepare all residents to face the challenges of the
twenty-first century. That, through their service commitment guarantee a
continuum of the community service philosophy from generation to generation and
by becoming an integral part of their county's future success, they will
influence the future success of Florida." |
